Shortly after releasing SimCity 2000, Maxis developed another intriguing simulation game in the Sim-series -- SimFarm.
The point here, as you might have figured, is to run a farm. You start out with a small portion of land, some money, and the minimum structure to grow crops. You have to acquire equipment, set plantations, build more structures... soon you'll be expanding your farm, dealing with business in the nearby town, building up your home, and a much more.
As with other Maxis' Sim games, SimFarm delivers a long array of options and possiblities and is highly replayable. You might choose to grow one or more of 16 different crops, maybe livestock as well. That depends on the type of climate and soil from the land you chose to play. In order to sell your products at decent prices, you need to keep your land fertile and wet, and feed your animals well. You have to keep an eye on the passing of seasons, raining, harmful herbs, pests and the such. You're presented a number of random situations every few months, which add surprises to the experience. You might have to deal with natural disasters pretty much like in SimCity 2000 too.
Gameplay is very simple. All options can be found very easily, as usual in Maxis games -- which is tricky, because their games are all fairly complex. Graphics and sounds are not as sharp as in SimCity 2000, but don't spoil the gaming experience.
Yet another classic with a fair amount of addictiveness. SimFarm is not too challenging, but it should keep you busy for some time.
