Certain games speak for themselves, and this is one of them. Arguably the best simulation game series ever created, SimCity is impossible to copy or rival. Rarely was a game at the same time so replayable, so addictive, so detailed, so unique. And SimCity 2000 perfected this experience.
If you don't know what this game is about you must check with your parents if you've been frozen somewhere for the last fifteen years. You get a portion of land and money and have the responsibility of starting a city from the ground up. Obviously in order to grow a city, you need people to live there, structure, welfare, safety, services, everything. And if people feel your city is a nice place to live, they move in, build their homes, start working and paying taxes, etc. There is also a number of scenarios available, where you can take control of a city in the middle of a certain crisis situation (riots, extreme poverty, natural disasters, etc.).
SimCity 2000 mixes a huge amount of options available and simplicity. Think about it, you have to build a city, any city. All kinds of usual services have to be available, there are taxes, traffic, disasters, new facilities... it was supposed to be complex. But it's all too smooth to play! Interface is incredibly simple, everything can be reached from a menu to your left. It allows you to rotate the city so you can spot anything easily. Graphics are sharp and colorful. You can even use the cities you create on other Maxis games, such as SimCopter and Street of SimCity!
Simply a masterpiece, the work of a genius.
