This basketball game remained unrivalled for many years in PCs, probably up to the arrival of games natively created for others platforms like NBA Jam, several years later.
Lakers vs. Celtics takes advantage of Electronic Arts long hailed expertise in sports games and adds daring uniqueness to make a true classic. Apart from other basketball games, this one featured real NBA players and their respective signature moves, with crazy dunks, considerable pace for a basketball game, decent graphics and a great engine, practically bugs-free -- fortunate for a complex game as this was back in the days.
The game features eight real NBA teams with all due celebrities from the 88/89 season, plus the east and west all-star teams for exhibitions. So you can practice on exhibitions and then go through playoffs aiming for the title. In the playoffs, the difficulty is always hard so the game is quite challenging at any rate.
It's worth mentioning most PC sports games were poor in terms of gameplay back then, so this one really outshines most others even years later. A must-have for any sports gamer, specially basketball aficionados, as you'll get the chance to play with a few of your favorites idols.
