Warcraft: orcs and humans started a trend that was crowned with great sequels and even an MMORPG that to date tops the list of online games out in the market. Well, great series are supposed to start with a classic, so here I introduce the classic that started it.
Story is simple: a horde of creatures known as orcs appeared out of nowhere on the face of Azeroth, the kingdom of humans. Now they plot to seize the entire kingdom and enslave the humans... you can play either the orc or the human campaign, and both are quite similar. As usual in the the series, each mission has a fairly unique objective and landscape.
Sounds and graphics are fair. They can get a bit repetitive, but it's fine. Gameplay lacks one ingredient I find critical in this style of game: a way to quickly select a whole lot of units to send them quickly into battle. But it's bearable since most units are a bit slow anyway. In the other hand it features a decent number of units to produce, specially if you consider that you can play both sides, and each have totally unique units (although they mostly have the same purposes, infantry, magic-user, long distance weapons, etc.).
Many better games were since realeased with this same style of play, so some might argue that this game was long replaced. Still, it's a classic, it opened a great series, it's worth completing, and it's ultimately a fun game. You should check it out.
