Another great chapter of the Ultima series (second only to Ultima VII in my opinion), Ultima VI brings improved interactivity and graphics, still keeping the usual features that made Ultima what it is: epic premise, colorful characters, hundreds of plots and people to talk to, hundreds of hours of play...
The new engine used in Ultima VI hardly resembles its prequels. The colorful gameworld is a fine departure from the mid-to-late 80s feel. NPCs now have faces, and you no longer get lost when entering a forest just because you can't see if you're really moving. Keywords in dialogs are now highlighted (what a relief). The gameworld is incredibly interactive, supported by a new and fitting icon-based interface.
Dormant for years, once again the moongate is open in this world. But only for a fraction of minute, and this time in a shimmering crimson glow... it has always been blue, but you have no time to waste. You jump through it just before it disappears, only to find yourself trapped by gargoyles! They've taken the eight Shrines of Virtue, now they want to sacrifice the avatar himself -- and thanks only to your old companions, Iolo, Dupre and Shamino, you get to keep your head attached to the rest of the body. They arrive just in time, and the party has to fight its way out of it. Once again you have a lot to do in Britannia!
Following the trend of delivering unique experiences on every new game, this action-packed roleplaying game is at all times worthy of its name, and has no flaws that I can think of. A classic from just any point of view.
