This is one very original game published by Interplay and developed by Silicon & Synapse Inc. (no less than the little company that would a year later become Blizzard Entertainment). The game features nice comics graphics, hilarious characters and dialogs, simple gameplay and, to those that care, easy configuration of sound hardware.
The story is quite bizarre: three vikings were abducted by aliens in their sleep, and now your mission is to guide them on their struggle to return home. Each of the three has a specialty: Eric the swift can run and jump, Olaf the stout has a tall shield to block enemies and shots as well as to slow his fall, and Baleog the fierce has a sword, a bow and arrows to attack enemies and hit far buttons. Yeah, that's basically it, with a few variations and creative uses to each power depending on your needs.
On their way home, most situations will demand total team work. You never go too far with only one of them. If one of them dies on the course of a level, you may as well kill the rest of them, because you'll need the three to complete the game. It's also worth saying that, although this is primarily a puzzle game, it has some amount of action -- even if only one of them is able to fight. The puzzles are generally intuitive and the challenge is not all that high (I should even say the puzzles get repetitive over time). But the smoothness of their movement, fun dialogs and constant change of sceneries might very well keep you busy for many hours. I've met quite a few people (including myself) that got easily addicted to The lost vikings. :)
