Here's a game that, like Blackthorne, Flashback and others, seemed to follow the genre created by Prince of Persia -- but one that managed to shine on his own.
You're Lester, a genius physics professor. While testing your particle acceleration experiment, an accident happens and something goes terribly wrong... so much that you got teleported out of this world. The intro cutscene is *very* cool.
First thing to point out about this game is that its graphics are beautiful. Some might say it's very simple, but look at the fluid animations, the cinematic cutscenes, the special effects, the landscape and sceneries -- the alien world is a real masterpiece in terms of atmosphere.
Gameplay is simple, not much to learn, although controls feel a bit imprecise sometimes. The story evolves with daring twists: surprises await in every scene! Sounds are simple but interesting.
Out of this world is extremely challenging. You'll see yourself repeating the scenes again and again. If you're not used to it you'll die on half of the screens of this game. I tend to say that challenging games are more rewarding to complete, so this one is very rewarding. Every time you slip past some mortal challenge because of luck or skill, you'll feel better about it.
Even today, Out of this world is one of my favorite action games. It's intriguing, intense, almost like a good movie. What're you waiting for?
