One of the most difficult games ever created, the PC version of The immortal did poorly in sales but remains an enjoyable game. Back in the days it was probably considered frustratingly challenging, but masochistic survivors wrote solutions that made possible for average gamers to complete it. :)
The game features nice graphics and music, and simple gameplay (after you get used to the commands). It is also VERY challenging, almost too much for my taste -- you can't save your game, but die all too easily.
Story is as follows: after many years disappeared, your mentor and great wizard Mordamir comes to you in a dream, and appears to be imprisoned in the labyrinth under the ruined city of Erinoch. You depart with no idea of the danger that awaits you, but remember that Mordamir spoke a lot of this city back in the days.
The dungeon is enormous, and there are many unique situations there. There are lots of hidden misteries as well, and if you manage to survive its hazards, the story should keep you interested down to the last level. All you need is nerves to play this one: if you like extremely challenging games, you'll feel at home trying to discover the secret of the Immortal.
