Another great arcade classic that made into the PC, but one of the first that did it with style.
The game plot is the usual kill-the-evil-ruler kind of thing, not worth mentioning (still if you want to read it, the manual included in the package has it all). The qualities of this game are in the excellent graphics and music, fair gameplay and fun factor that will keep you glued to the screen.
The graphics are a bit ahead of its time. Remember, 1990, Ultima VI, Centurion... Civilization came one year later and didn't beat Golden Axe's graphics either, none of these did. Same with music -- if you think of it, how many PC games from 1990 do you know with AdLib or Creative Labs music *and* sound effects? I can recall only Stunts, no other from the top of my head. All this adds to an interesting (even if cliched) setting created throughout the game.
The action is unstoppable, and the controls are decent, so you get addicted to it very easily. Overall a great conversion and a worthy go for all ages. :)
