This highly underrated action-adventure puts you, believe it or not, in a sci-fi fairy-tale. Can you imagine that?

As cliched as it gets, here's a brief of the story: the planet Twinsun lives under the control of Dr. Funfrock, a crazed dictator that arrests anyone that's under any kind of suspicion, and has militar forces everywhere to keep the population scared. You're Twinsen, and you've been having strange dreams about the goddess Sendell, which is considered a crime. Now you're a prisoner, and after escaping, you'll be on a long journey to take your planet back from the domain of the evil doctor... as I said, it's a fairy-tale.

The graphics of this game are simply beautiful. You see it all from an isometric perspective and all the game world and characters are 3D rendered -- it needed a real beast machine to run it back in the days. Music is nice too. Unfortunately this package doesn't feature the speech files, but the subtitles do the job. Gameplay is fairly unique: you control everything with the arrow keys and the space bar. There are four action modes, and in each one the space bar acts accordingly. That simple.

The game world in quite intriguing. The four races that inhabit Twinsun are quite funny to look at, and although the actions are simple, you can jump-climb up high places, search for items, and watch lots of humorous situations. You can talk to nearly anyone in RPG fashion, and unlike most other games, fighting is not always the best choice, since you're many times outnumbered and outgunned -- remember, you're a fugitive from a dictatorial militar state, so running is always an option.

The only drawback I can think of in Relentless is the odd autosaving system, which you can't control -- pretty pointless. But it's still a fun and long epic game, for all ages.
